Communication on common agenda for culture in Europe

Pearle* welcomes the initiative of the European Commission to consider the drafting of a Communication focusing on a new common agenda for culture in Europe. The impact that European policy and legislation have on people and entities working and operating in this sector is huge. Therefore, the European social partners believe that a common agenda for Culture could foster cooperation and encourage the creation of an environment favourable for the performing arts sector. The common agenda for culture should focus on creating a sustainable environment for the performing arts, by generating enough resources at different levels to support the sector. Moreover, it should pay real attention to the particular status of workers in the sector in a context of growing mobility, addressing tax and mobility issues.
